Chemical Engineering + Energy Engineering in Spain

Combining Chemical Engineering and Energy Engineering creates a strong interdisciplinary pathway for students interested in industrial processes, energy systems and the transition toward more efficient and cleaner technologies.

A current Spanish public-university programme runs for five years and 304.5 ECTS.

The first year contains 61.5 ECTS including Mathematics I & II, Physics, General and Organic Chemistry, Geology, Applied Computing, Engineering Graphics and introductions to both Chemical and Energy Engineering.

Potential career directions include process engineering, energy engineering, petrochemicals, industrial projects, renewable energy, hydrogen, energy efficiency and engineering consulting.

The Gulf is particularly relevant to this combination. The UAE Energy Strategy 2050 aims to triple renewable-energy contribution by 2030 and mobilise AED 150–200 billion in energy investment.

International students who need preparation can consider a Foundation Year costing approximately €4,000–€7,900, aimed at B2 Spanish and academic preparation in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

International applicants may need homologation, UNEDasiss accreditation and PCE examinations depending on their educational system and university route.

For the Madrid public programme reviewed, the ordinary first-enrolment rate is €19.43 per ECTS, which is around €1,194.95 for the 61.5-credit first year before other charges.

Non-EU foreign students over 18 without qualifying resident status may instead be charged €128.57 per ECTS, approximately €7,907.06 for 61.5 ECTS.

Outstanding students in the Unicamps pathway may also receive opportunities to attend career fairs to support their search for internships during their studies.
